清明时节雨纷纷
During the Festival of Qing Ming drizzling is the rain
- Du Mu
These containers are vehicles for transformation: by burning our paper offerings, our collective wishes and longings for our ancestors’ well being in the afterlife are sent on in another form. Similarly, the stories we tell about our history transform in the collective retelling. These containers bear witness to families’ stories over multiple seasons.
During the pandemic, families were not able to come together to celebrate this festival. I created a web site for people to submit their own stories.
